A Nature Walk With Sophia
We have a small lake near our home, about half a mile around, and it is just a lovely place to be and to enjoy Nature. The birds are chirping in the trees and the Canadian geese often come or leave in flights from the lake. There are usually people walking around the lake, single or in groups, some with dogs, and sometimes there are a few people down by the water, fishing. We often take our dog, Alex, for a walk there, as we did Gwen before him. But when we walk the dog, it is all about him just being able to be a dog - to run, to sniff and smell things, to explore wherever and whatever he wants to. It is his one time a day of freedom outside. When my husband and I walk together, we do it at a later time.
So this evening, after walking Alex and taking him back home, my husband and I came back to the lake for our walk. I have been looking at a lot of videos about health and exercise, so I wanted to make this a quick-walking exercise. We started out briskly. But Sophia said, "Slow down. Make this a meditative walk in Nature. Enjoy your time out in the fresh air. Observe the world around you."
So we slowed our pace and began just enjoying the beauties that were there for us to behold. This time of year, the leaves are changing color and some of them are the most beautiful, vivid shades of fiery red. The wind has blown many of them from their lofty perches, so they are in the air and scattered all over the ground. Acorns crunch under our feet as we walk.
Sophia said, "See the water? The lake represents your life. The surface of the water can be choppy and turbulent; however, underneath the surface the water is calm, peaceful, and serene. The water represents your life. The surface is the external aspect, which is always turbulent, chaotic, and disruptive. Underneath the surface of your life, your consciousness can either reflect the turbulence of the surface or the peace, serenity, and tranquility of the depths. Where you choose to focus your attention is where you focus your consciousness. It can focus on chaos, instability, and turbulence, or it can focus on peace, tranquility, and love. The choice of where you put your focus is up to you. The lake is but the physical representation of you, as all nature is but a representation of you.
Sophia continued. "See the rocks along the shore? They are solid, strong, and provide structure to the land. They represent the masculine. Without the rocks, the land is bare. The rocks give the land dimension. The water, on the other hand, is fluid, in motion, and ever changing. It represents the feminine. Nature holds the complete blueprint of gnosis."
And I watched as the Sun was setting in the West and thought about how when the light fades, we are never completely in the dark. The Divine Feminine is with us in the glow of the Moon, which is ever changing, getting brighter and then fading to hide her light from us. But even when the Moon hides her light, there are countless stars in the sky. Those tiny lights represent each of us who are walking our spiritual path, lighting the way for others to also find their way in the darkness. Sophia never leaves us without guidance. In the darkest of times, She is with us, finding ways to help us see the path back to the Divine.
